My name is BonnieLee Zarate and I am 21 years old. I am currently attending Baker College of Port Huron for my associates in applied sciences for Veterinary Technician. I have recently started back to school; I took time off to have my baby. Prior to having my baby I completed Math111, Psychology 101, English 101, and Biology. Currently I am taking English 102 online and will be starting back full-time in the fall. I attended Port Huron High School and graduated in 2005 at the top of my class. I was a member of the National Honors Society, the Big Red Marching Machine and the drama club.
Presently I am tutoring my younger sister and some of her friends in 7th grade math, science, and literature. I am also tutoring my younger brother in 4th grade math, science, social studies, and reading. I have seen a major increase in all my student’s grades on daily homework and test scores. I believe that every child has a different need and as a tutor it is my job to figure that need out. For example my younger brother has a hard time with math because he is a visual learner. So with him I make up rhymes or I use objects to help him see what the problem is asking. My younger sister learns better by reading something than actually seeing it in front of her, while her friend needs me to write things down and show her. No child is the same so I personally keep an open mind on what teaching method will be most helpful.
