About Karen:

My name is Karen and I am a 45yr old mother of an 8yr old boy. I graduated from Mount De Chantal Academy in 1981 with a 2.95 GPA, which was a college prep school. Following High School I attended Virginia Tech till 1986 where I received a BS in Statistics and a Minor in Mathematics. I understand the difficulties students have if math is not one of their favorite subjects. My favorite subject when I was in school was Algebra followed by Calculus. Upon graduation, I went to work for Kraft Foods for over 20 yrs. I moved up in the company from Sales to Merchandising and ended my career there as a Category Analyst. I have exceptional skills in Excel and Power Point. I have been working with numbers for the past 21 yrs and hopefully I can help you understand math and it concepts better since you will need to take several Math courses if college is in your future. I have never tutored before but spend hours each week working with my son who is in 3rd grade. I have taught Junior Achievement in the Public schools for over 6 yrs and mentor an elementary student in homework.
