 About Bulent:
I am an experienced professional singer and vocal instructor, and I offer singing lessons using a natural, easy-to-understand and experience-based holistic method. No previous singing experience is necessary. Adults and children of all ages, voice types, levels and musical backgrounds are welcome. I hold a Graduate Performance Diploma in Voice from The Boston Conservatory. I have been teaching voice since 1997 as a freelance teacher. I have taught voice and ear training classes at the Boston Conservatory Summer Choral Institute as a faculty member and resident director, also taught master classes at the Berkshire Hills and Hamilton-Garret Music Academies. I have taught students with equal success from backgrounds as diverse as opera, musical theater, pop, soul, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, rock and heavy metal. I am also an instructor at The Boston Center for Adult Education, teaching music appreciation courses with an emphasis on opera and musical theater. I am a member of Boston Opera Collaborative where I perform as a singer and serve on the artistic staffing committee. I am also a member of the international contemporary music ensemble "Musica Anatolia", and the concert duo "La Scena". I enjoy sharing my musical knowledge and expertise to enrich the lives of my students. My holistic teaching approach focuses on guiding the student to express his/her natural voice with an unforced but keen awareness of how the body and mind work during the singing process. In technical terms, I see the breath as the foundation of singing, and encourage the student to be true to herself/himself and allow the pure and style-free voice to emerge. Then the voice can be applied to any musical style she/he wishes to perform. I believe singing is a completely natural, joyous and conscious activity, and I encourage the student to sing with a warm heart and cool mind. I have performed as soloist in many operas, oratorios and concerts with organizations including CRR Symphony Orchestra in Istanbul, Turkey; Tokyo City Opera Orchestra in Japan; Hudson Valley Philharmonic and Opera Company of the Highlands in NY; Orient Heights Music, Mass Theatrica, Opera del West, Longwood Opera, Boston Opera Collaborative, Masterworks Chorale and Riverside Theatre Works in MA, at venues including CRR Concert Hall and Yildiz Palace in Istanbul; Bardavon Opera House in NY; Boston Symphony Hall, Sanders Theater, Zeiterion Theater, Riverside Theater and Kresge Auditorium in MA. I have recently been selected for inclusion in the 2008/2009 edition of Montclair Who's Who, which recognizes and highlights men and women of distinction and leadership with notable achievements in a variety of fields from across the United States and Canada.
