About Elizabeth:

Hello, My name is Elizabeth Tinuoye and I am 24 years old. I attended Bread Roses High School in Manhattan. While in high school , I maintained a GPA of 3.9 and I was involved in many extracurricular activities. I was also a peer tutor/mentor. I took the Math A Regents (80), the ELA (92), and the Chemistry Regents (75). The numbers in parenthesis are my grades. My graduating class only had 60 students. Out of my entire class I was only student that was accepted to an Ivy League college. MY SAT scores were about average (590 MATH and 600 Reading). I attended Barnard College at Columbia University from June 2001 until May 2005.

Words are in adequate when it comes to describing my experience at Barnard College.I majored in psychology and I was pre-med. I had to work very hard to achieve good grades, but in the end my hard work paid off. During my first year, I worked two jobs so my GPA was not that good (2.75). I was tutor and a receptionist for a gym. I tutored for one year. Once, I decided to give my jobs and focus on my studies there was no limit to my abilities. I developed my own style of studying and teaching. Every semester I made my GPA was 3.3 or higher. There a few high lights that are worth mentioning. For my sophomore year I was a research assistant for a study about alzheimer's at Montefiore Hospital. During my Junior year I was an intern for NIDA (National Institute for Drug Abuse) and I was placed at Cornell Medical School. My senior year was not only difficult because I was writing my thesis, but I was working as TA (teaching assistant ) for both semesters and I was part of the MOSAIC program at Columbia Presbyterian (the program prepared students for a career in research). Despite everything that I was involved I managed to stay on top of both my grades and personal life. the point that I am trying to make is that I am very well skilled when it comes to studying and preparing for exams.
My received my degree in psychology in 2005. Instead of going straight to medical school I decided to work for a little while. I was a psychosocial high school counselor for two years at Lehman High School in the Bronx. I am very familiar with the Board of Education and guidelines. As a high school counselor I was responsible for the students in every way possible. Whenever they had a problem they came to see me. I assisted them with school work, personal matters and financial matters. After two years, I decided that it was time to pursue medical school or get a masters. I decided to do both. Currently, I am a student at City College. I am taking some extra science courses (to enhance my medical school application) and I am also taking graduate level courses in psychology. Currently, I tutor elementary students in Math and English.

As for my teaching style, I like to meet my clients at their level. This means that I like to move at the students pace. My teaching style is very laid back, but consistent. My goal for my students is to help them master the material by not only increasing their knowledge, but assisting them with their study skills and self confidence.

Overall, I am a very intelligent individual and I aim to not only inspire myself, but inspire the people around me. For the most part, I am always smiling and I enjoy making people feel comfortable. I strongly believe that learning should be fun and not boring. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
