My interest in education began during my final years at Pomona Catholic High School and brought me to study at the University of La Verne located in California. I have become interested in tutoring children since I have gained the much attained experience working as a tutor for an independent tutoring company located in Los Angeles, CA. I originally started with the goal of becoming a classroom teacher; however, as the years progressed my experience has led me to pursue a career as a college professor while still gaining experience in working with high school students.
I have become interested in the field of education while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and English with a minor in Mathematics at the University of La Verne. In addition, my involvement on the ULV Speech and Debate Team has given me the opportunity to strengthen my public speaking and communication skills. This position seems to be ideal for my experience and career interests and I am confident that I can contribute to your organization. Because I am aware of the services and students you work with, such a position would allow me to apply my skills obtained from both work and academic experiences and really make a difference in students’ lives while bringing an enthusiastic and fresh perspective to your organization.

Since then, I have experience in working with students who have struggled with reading proficiency standards, mathematical skills, and pronunciation abilities. In doing so, I have been responsible for creating a lesson plan and teaching students in general courses such as English, Mathematics, and Grammar. After completing my courses with the students, I have always exceeded my goals and have realized a passion that I have for teaching. Through this position, I have gained strong skills in organization, leadership, motivation, and classroom management. I am confident this experience will be a great asset to me for as I may pursue this as my career in the future.
In addition to my experience as a tutor, I have a history in working in retail and campus activities. This, I know, would make a difference in students’ lives and provide an enthusiastic and fresh perspective to the field of education.
A position as a tutor with WyzAnt would provide me with a great amount of exposure to the field of education.
