guitar I have a bachelors degree in music/guitar performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I have been teaching privately for 15 years and have taught part-time at various high schools as a guitar/bass instructor and an ensemble coach. I also have 5 years experience teaching music in the classroom in an alternative education setting. At this school, I was responsible for writing and implementing the music curriculum. I have developed my own teaching system which I have been utilizing with great success. It consists of material organized into 8 ranks and degrees for teenagers and adults and grades 1-12 for pre-teens. As a student learns the material in each rank, a certificate is issued stating that they completed the necessary requirements. Once a student achieves an intermediate level of Rank 4, they start to select a "Major" concept to focus on such as: Finger style technique, Improvisation, Rhythm playing, Sight-reading, etc... This starts to develop an individual style. Students can also sign up for guitar tournaments and ensembles. In 2007 I earned a full endorsement with Minarik Guitars. Recently, I have been contacted by the Martin Guitar Company as well to be affiliated with their instruments.
