I studied music composition and violin performance at the Eastman School of Music, and am currently active as a violinist, violist, and composer in New York City as well as internationally. I have performed at Carnegie Hall, the Venice Biennale, and dozens of other prestigious venues throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player. I haved also worked with composers such as Reich, Stockhausen, Boulez, Lachenmann, Rihm, and Birtwistle.
I am a passionate and dedicated teacher of violin technique and repertoire, music theory, composition, and ear training, with an emphasis on tapping into and nourishing each student's innate musicality. I believe that every person has limitless potential to expand and enrich his or her ears, mind, and spirit through the study and practice of music.
I also studied mathematics at the University of Rochester. I have perfect scores on the math portions of the SAT and GRE and on the AP Calculus A/B and Calculus B/C exams. Math is another passion of mine, and I am a patient, supportive teacher of all levels and ages. I can help you study for the SAT Math section or the AP Calculus exams, or help you with elementary, middle school, high school, or college math classes through calculus.
