About Grant:

Hi, my name is Grant, and I am 26 years old. I have a BS degree in Biopsychology from UCSB, and am almost finished with my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. When finished with my degree, I will apply for licensure as a Clinical Psychologist. In high school I finished with a GPA of 4.84 and took several AP courses including AP English, AP History, and AP Calculus, all of which I passed. I used to tutor in geometry and algebra while at UCSB, but find that writing is more my strength as I have to complete many graduate level papers per semester and do not do much math at present. I have always had exceptional study skills and have helped several peers develop these beneficial skills as well. I used to work at Devereux, Santa Barbara with young children with Autism, and I am currently employed by the Mental Health Association of Santa Barbara where I work with adult clients with Schizophrenia. I have always been a patient individual and these jobs have only honed that skill. I played football, basketball, and baseball at the varsity level while in high school, and was all-state in baseball and all-county in football. I coached varsity football, as an assistant, for three years after graduating high school, and have volunteered as a freshman baseball coach. My dad was a coach at the varsity level in basketball so I have proficient knowledge of the game and its inner workings. I am also a music producer/engineer with my own studio and production company. I began in music as a songwriter and continue to write songs in all genres. I do not have one set teaching style as I feel each student requires unique assessment as to what may work. I am very creative and feel confident that I could help any prospective learner.

More On Grant's Subjects:

  • baseball

I grew up playing baseball. When I was four, I started playing teeball, which led to little leage, then senior league, and then to high school baseball. In high school, I played one year of freshman baseball, then was brought up to varsity as a sophomore. As a sophomore, I led the Mission Trail Athletic League in hitting with a .563 batting average while playing first base. As a junior, I pitched and played first and third base. In that year, I was an all-state pitcher. As a senior, I pitched and played first and third base once again and received all-county honors. Every team I have played on has been extremely successful; in many cases we won league. I played on traveling teams, all-star teams, and MLB showcases. I decided not to play baseball in college despite much interest from the college and professional ranks.

  • football

I began playing football when I was very young, and played organized footbal since the age of 8. I began with flag football, went on to play pop warner tackle football, then played all four year of high school football. I played quarterback my entire life as well as middle linebacker, cornerback, safety, and outside linebacker on defense. In high school, our team only lost 2 games in four years, and in that time as a QB I threw 23 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions. Each year, we won league and my junior year we won CCS. After high school football, I decided I did not want to try and play college, but did come back to my high school and coach for three years at the varsity level. During this time, I coached quarterbacks and linebackers. I have been coached by, and coached with, professional athletes, so I have been around the highest echelon of the game, and being a QB I was a student of the game.

  • grammar

I am required, as a graduate level learner, to write several papers per semester, which all must be written to APA style and with impeccable grammar. Right now, I have a 3.91 GPA in my graduate studies, so have been efficient in writing with correct grammar.

Student Feedback:

  • Awesome

Grant is very patient while working with a less than enthusiastic student. My son is 15 and really did not want a tutor. Grant has worked out very well, more than I could have hoped for.
