I'm currently earning my master's at Yale School of Drama in the Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism department. The program emphasizes analytical and writing abilities, training us to work within theatres, universities, and publication environments. Research and presentation of the found material--condensed and synthesized for the appropriate audience (often directors, fellow students, audiences, and actors)--is another key aspect of my training.
My undergraduate major was Theatre studies, encompassing everything from set building to playwriting. I minored in German Literature and have a good comprehension of written and spoken German. I've also begun studying French and have a basic spoken and written understanding of the language.
I spent two summers working at a Girl Scout Residential Camp teaching drama, poetry, creative writing, and German. Last summer I worked with inner-city, middle-school aged kids, teaching them how to write plays. I was a mentor for once specific student, working with her on creating her own play and then acting in the production of it.
I am spending this summer working as an intern in the afternoons with the Zach Scott Theatre's Summer Day Camp program for Kids, teaching the kids about the different aspects of theatre and acting, and helping them create a Friday production for their parents and friends. I'm in Austin to spend time with my new niece (she's 7 months old!) and the rest of my family, two of whom (including my mother) are teachers.
My mornings and weekends are free and I'd love to fill them helping students who need a little one-on-one attention to catch up in school or who want to get ahead! |
