About
Melissa: |
|
My name is Melissa, and I'm a graduate of Stanford University, Department of Biological Sciences. As an undergrad, I tutored fellow students in biology and was also a teaching assistant for one semester. Since graduating in 2007, I have been conducting immunology research at Stanford, as well as assisting in a nearby ER. While I consider biology to my specialty, I also have considerable strength in Math and English. Beyond the realm of academics, I've been dancing (tap, ballet, hip hop) since age 3, so I could even help in that area, if you're interested!
Two attributes that I particularly pride myself on are my patience and open-mindedness, both of which definitely contribute to encouraging an optimal learning environment. Different students have different learning styles (hands-on, visual, auditory, etc), so I'm willing to be flexible to meet your needs. My priority is the student, and I can adjust as fitting.
I prefer to emphasize critical thinking and understanding rather than brute memorization, but also understand that different classes also have different requirements. I'm no slave driver, but I can be nit-picky when it comes to ensuring that the student fully understands the material.
So if you're looking for an exceptionally qualified, thorough tutor who is also flexible and willing to meet you half-way, I'm your girl! |
