I graduated from high school fourth in my class and studied Theatre at Texas State University. After graduating with a BFA, I moved to Iowa and received my teaching certification from Coe College. My student teaching experience was in Theatre and Language Arts, but I was employed as a teacher of career and life skills for unmotivated students.
This has strongly influenced the way I approach teaching, in that relevancy of the material must be sold before learning can take place. In other words, I find ways to motivate students to learn so that they approach the material with more enthusiasm, and I do this by ensuring that the material is made real to them.
I am currently employed with AISD as a substitute teacher at Bedicheck MS, and work part time as a writer (just having completed the first draft of my first novel.)
I am patient, experienced, versatile, skilled, and completely honest in my approach to teaching. |

My interest and expertise in Theatre goes back to my childhood. I was raised by a high school Theatre teacher, and therefore was immersed in all aspects of production from a very young age. After high school, I attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) where I received a BFA in Theatre with a 4.0 in that area of study. I then moved to Los Angeles, where I worked for three years as an actor followed by a relocation to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While there, I attended Coe College and was awarded my secondary teaching certification in Theatre and Speech.
My interest in Theatre continues to this day, and I am happy to share my expertise as best I can.
