About
Elizabeth: |
I'm a "career" sub and have been subbing now for a little over 2 years. (Started in March of 2005.) I do K-12, all areas, and work in both the public and private school systems. (As of right now, I sub for 5 public districts (3 of which use the automated system AESOP) and 3 Catholic grade schools.) I also work part-time as a tutor at Huntington Learning Center and teach 4th grade CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) on the side at my parish. |

Elizabeth's Experience:
elementary (k-6th)
As someone who's been extensively working with elementary students over the past 3 years or so as a substitute teacher, Huntington tutor, and Catechist (religious education teacher), I definitely know HOW to connect in such a way tht learning becomes both fun and enjoyable to the child I'm working with. I have a high return of positive feedback not only as a subtitute teacher, but as a Huntington tutor and Catechist as well. Students defintely love me!

grammar
Since my major was in General Studies, I have a broad background in the liberal arts in which I had to do a lot of writing. In addition, grammar is an important aspect of every child's individualized tutoring program at Huntington.
phonics
For children in Kidergarten through 3rd grade, phonics plays a key role in the individual tutorting program that is put together for thm. In other words, we start with phonics as the necessary foundation and build from there.

proofreading
Since my major was in General Studies, I have a broad background in the liberal arts in which I had to do a lot of writing. And of course, like any good writer — you proofread! In addition, proofreading is an important aspect of every child's individualized tutoring program at Huntington, at least for reading it is.

study skills
During high school, I took Study Skills and Time Management at Sylvan Learning Center. Now as a tutor at Huntington, I pass on what I learned to the kids I tutor with every week. Study skills and time management are continuously stressed and incorporated into each child's individualized tutoring program by each and every tutor.
