I am a skilled tutor who specializes in teaching English as a Second Language. I am enthusiastic, patient, and creative. I have studied Spanish, French, and Russian, so I know how it feels to learn a new language.
My teaching philosophy is simple: if you don't understand something, it's because I haven't found a good way to explain it to you. It's up to me to make things clear.
I am interested in working with people from all cultures and backgrounds. I love to teach and I love to learn from my students! |

I received a TESL Certificate in October 2007 from TESL Express, a teacher training school in Seattle.
Since then I have been volunteering as a teacher through the Multi-Service Center in Federal Way, WA, which presents classes at the King County Library.
I taught one class as a substitute in March. The feedback from the students was very enthusiastic, and as a result the Coordinator turned over one of her classes to me.
While I taught computer classes in the 80s and 90s, my interest now is to work with immigrants, teaching ESL. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations, but am relatively new to teaching ESL. Therefore I am volunteering to gain experience. I enjoy this tremendously and am looking forward to building a career in the ESL field as a teacher and tutor.

The best
I hired Marc to teach my wife from Thailand to learn the WA. state drivers handbook, a difficult book to learn when you don't understand english. I was impressed with his professionalism and patience and ability to communicate with my wife not knowing the Thai language himself. Not only did she pass her written exam, but also understands the english language better. Now that my wife can drive she will be taking an E.S.L. class at the college with a higher level of understanding. We hope to use Marc again when her son comes over from Thailand, we will put him school and I'm hoping Marc can tutor him a couple times a week as well.
