In my long career as a teacher, I have taught high school mathematics, undergraduate and graduate level computer science, and graduate level statistics. I currently hold a faculty appointment of Assistant Professor in the Health Systems Management program at Rush University, one of the top 25 health management programs in the United States. My students have voted me the outstanding faculty member in the department in 2003 and 2007. Also at Rush Medical Center, I developed curriculum and taught mathematics in the Science and Math Excellence program, which provides opportunities for inner city high school students with an interest in healthcare careers. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Northwestern University with a minor in Mathematics, and a Masters degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology. I have a lot of patience and a good sense of humor and am able to work with students of all ability levels. |

I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science and have been a professional programmer for over 25 years. My programming languages include C, C++, SQL, UNIX shell, Perl, XML, and Cache/MUMPS. My database administration experience includes Oracle and Informix, and I am also expert in the UNIX operating system. I am very familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint.
I have taught Information Systems andComputer Programming at the high school, undergraduate, and
graduate school levels.

SPSS

I worked at SPSS for 6 1/2 years and was a member of the development team for the original SPSS-X product and for the UNIX conversion. I have taught SPSS to graduate students at Rush University since 1997, and have providing consulting in SPSS to graduate student master's projects since 2000.

I have over 15 years of programming experience in SQL, primarily in Informix but also in Oracle.
I have done report generation, table creation and manipulation, database administration, and programming in C with embedded SQL. I have taught the SQL language to end users and to graduate level health administration students as part of an information systems curriculum.

I have been Course Director for intermediate statistics at the graduate level for 9 years as an Assistant Professor in the Health Systems Management department at Rush University. Among topics covered in my course were descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, t-tests, ANOVA, Chi-Square, non-parametric tests, linear and logistic regression, and use of SPSS software.
I also assisted many of the same students with the statistical analysis on their masters projects, several of which were published in professional journals or presented at professional conferences.
In 2003 and 2007 the students honored me with the award for oustanding faculty member in the department, and in 1999 the other faculty members voted me the oustanding Junior Faculty member.
I worked for SPSS Inc. for 6 1/2 years as a senior programmer analyst, writing code for statistical procedures and the user interfaces needed to apply them.
