About Alexis:

My name is Alexis, I moved to the United States in 2005 to obtain my master’s degree. After graduating, I worked for a non-governmental environmental organization and then in a company in the Washington DC metropolitan area. I grew up in France, since my parents are French, and I attended French high school. At the age of twelve, I moved to Brazil, where I went to law school in Rio de Janeiro. I am a member of the Brazilian Bar Association and I worked in a Brazilian law firm for almost two years. I was also involved in social projects in local communities of Rio de Janeiro. I always enjoyed doing sports, mostly tennis and soccer. I have been playing tennis for more than fifteen years and in the past I played tournaments for the French and Brazilian Federations. Most of my teaching experience is through teaching English to Brazilian children. I am very patient, calm, and have a good sense of humor. I believe in building constructive atmosphere and encouraging creativity, rather than setting dogmatic rules. However, I expect hard work and attention from my students. I enjoy teaching and expect observing progress by setting short-term goals.

My fifteen-year experience living in Brazil gives me good credentials to teach Portuguese. I studied Brazilian literature in high school and have an excellent knowledge of local culture. I went to a Brazilian University and passed the Bar in Rio de Janeiro. I have working experience as a tutor for kids in Rio de Janeiro. I can teach beginners to intermediate level students. According to the level of students, I can develop conservation skills as well as vocabulary and grammar comprehension.
