I have been an avid reader from a very early age. With the help of a public education, I was able to develop my language skills to include reading, writing, grammar, and foreign language study. At the end of high school, this culminated into a perfect SAT Verbal score and a near-perfect SAT Writing score. Because I am also passionate about what I am good at doing, I have continued advanced studies in these subjects during college. One of my recently acquired specialties is the methodology of ESL/EFL education, for which I have done specialized tutoring with a foreign student. I have also worked with students and adults in India who were seriously pursuing their study of the English language.
At school, I am regularly sought out by my fellow students who know that I am a friendly and helpful editor. In fact, I'm getting so many "repeat customers" these days, there is a joke going around that I should start charging for my services! Ultimately, people find that they are more comfortable turning in a paper to a teacher once I have approved it.
As a side note, I have also been playing the oboe for eight years. I have won several awards for my playing and am currently involved in an advanced chamber music group on my campus. I would be happy to help out anyone who is either considering taking up the oboe, or is looking to improve their playing. After much effort on my own part, I am also able to help with making and fine-tuning oboe reeds. I know so much about the oboe and would love to share some of my knowledge. |
