Hi,
I love knowledge and enjoy teaching it to others. I graduated from MTSU, in Murfreesboro, TN in Dec 1997 with a major in art education and minor in education. I have taught in the public school system both as an art teacher and as a volunteer. I have taught private art classes for adults and children, for more then five years at a dance studio in Murfreesoro, TN. I taught art classes at the Murfreesoboro Art League and was a member for around 10-12 years.
And I have worked for various newspapers, printing companies and fashion companies for many years as a graphic artist and designer. I learned many skills through these companies, such as typesetting, layout, camera work, page makeup, fashion design, pattern design, display boards, contracts, sales & marketing techniques, etc.
Before that I worked as a secretary for several years and was responsible for payroll, accounts payable and receivables, inventory, state job closeouts, typing, answering phones, state title work, was a notary for the state of FL,and various other jobs.
I am good at math, love to read, love to write, and as an artist, I paint, draw and make sculptures from various materials and also do freelance work, which often is with clients in the fashion industry, painting signs, making computer art, doing commissioned art work, or painting murals and other projects as commissioned.
My art has been shown in many middle TN shows over the last 20 years and I was often in the ribbons. My art has also been displayed in several middle TN hospitals, art galleries, libraries and so forth.
And horses, animals, gardening, and farming... I love it! I have had horses most of my life. I ran a stable in FL for several years, trained horses, showed horses, gave riding lessons, taught horse care and safety, and had a 4-H equestrian group, etc.
Music... again, I love it! I play several instruments, sing, and write music. The instrument I would be most qualified in is the guitar.
My teaching style...well, I try to adapt it to the student's way of learning. I have found that people don't all learn the same way. Some are visual learners, some learn by hearing or by rote. So, I am adaptible in that area. I am a very visual person and learn best that way myself, but realize that we are all different.
My tutoring experience. I have tutored people in various subjects over the years; kind of here and there as was needed. For instance, I helped teach a neighbor to read through a reading program; I've helped an elementary student I was assigned to in math during one of my educational classes at MTSU. I have often tutored friends and family in the arts, music, computers, sewing, gardening, herbs and many other areas.
So, I am kind of a jack of all trades but have checked the subject areas that I feel I am best at and hope that you will wish to work with me. |
