My name is Aldyn Richmond, I am 23 years old, and I graduated last year from UC Berkeley with a major in Art. I am an experienced in painting, drawing (including figure drawing), screenprinting, ceramics, intaglio, sound art, video art (using Final Cut Pro), and Photoshop. I currently have a studio space in Berkeley where I make oil paitings. I have been doing graphic designing for a non profit (Passport M) for the last couple of years. While in college, I also took many Art History classes where I wrote research papers and gained a unique perspective on world history & art.
Over the last year I have become well educated in music. I have taken classes in Music Theory, Voice, Ear-training, Harmonic Analysis, & Guitar. I am well grounded in Music Theory; I like to think of it as its own language and as a universal form of communication.
I have lived in London, where I studied art. I have also lived in Siena, Italy, where I studied Italian, Art, and had an internship at the city's art museum.
My experience in tutoring includes teaching Language Arts where I brought my pupil, Lauren, from a C- to an A and got her into an Advanced English ninth grade class. I have also tutored younger pupils in basic reading skills.
As far as art goes, I have 3 years of experience teaching art to children in a classroom setting. Developing children's minds creatively is so necessary and often overlooked in today's educational curriculum. I have also taught individuals drawing techniques to improve their abilities to transfer what they see onto paper. I have taught oil and acrylic painting on an informal basis as well.
My experience teaching Music Theory has mainly been to close friends who want to know how to read, understand, and possibly write their own notes/chords for music pieces. Music Theory is such a great skill to know and use; so, it is a really wonderful feeling for me to be able to teach Music Theory to others.
