About
Beata: |
I am a Polish instructor with years of experience teaching individuals of different ages, from seniors to young children, and with varying degrees of proficiency, from basic to very advanced. A native Polish-speaking myself, I offer a Communication degree and a background working at the renowned Berliz Language Institute for 2 years.
I always start by assessing specific needs of each student and then modifying the teaching method accordingly. For instance, if your goal is to learn basic conversational Polish, the lessons will focus on learning popular phrases and proper pronunciation and improving comprehensive abilities. With some exceptions, those early lessons usually cover the kind of basic material that helps you communicate while traveling (asking for directions, making introductions, etc.) Very often, improvisational exercises will be incorporated into the classroom instruction and illustrations/maps/objects will be used as visual tools to further help the student and facilitate learning.
If you are a more advanced student, who has already been exposed to the language in the past but wishes to improve it, the emphasis will be put on introducing more challenging material and addressing specific areas of weakness (grammar, writing, limited vocabulary, etc.) I like to employ a total-immersion technique with those more advanced students which means that lessons are conducted entirely in Polish, unless the student prefers to have the material explained and clarified in English.
What makes me a great teacher? I strive to make every lesson an enjoyable experience, as it is my believe that we learn better and more effectively while having fun at the same time! Nodding off is not an option as the students remains stimulated and challenged throughout the length of each class. Be prepared to learn not only the language, but also a lot of interesting things about Polish culture and traditions! |
