About
Felicity: |
|
Hi, my name is Felicity. This name has always been my guide (according to Webster's unabridged dictionary it means: felicity; great happiness, a sense of style and and appropriateness of words. It also means luck in German, and we all know what it is to have Hope. I cannot help but bring this philosophy to my students because it is natural to me. I am also born on the first day of spring and bring a curiosity of learning and freshness every day. I like to teach global folkloric history, English and elocution (I am a technician of the Engish and American English languages). I also teach study techniques, good communication skills, reading, writing, grammar, spelling, singing and speaking technique; presentation, world and American history, current events, comprehension and basic math. The use of theater technique I do find works very well and is enjoyed very much. Focusing exercises taken from a myriad of different also prove to be critical. Both younger children and teenagers generally find learning with me quite effective and engaging, I am happy to say. |

I formerly taught K - 6 students in London, England at "The Learning Centre". You will see that the word "centre" is spelled differently in England than it is here, where we spell it "center". I also tutored K-8 in Florida at "The Learning and Achievement Center". This school later became "Anchor Academy" where I taught grades 5 - 12.
At "The Learning Centre, my students would ask me, "Miss Felicity, why to you always "sing" lessons?" I had become aware that how one uses one's voice can definitely effect one's singing ability (and ability to learn), so, I have always made an effort to use my voice in a melodic manner to keep it in shape and keep interst. This can sometimes be confuses with "singing", but, I think it is very pleasant to the ear and hope that children can learn from it, too.
I like to teach, because, I always learn new things, too. If I don't recall every facet of a subject, by researching it when needed, it keeps my interest fresh. By learning it "together" with a student, we can accomplish much because we are both excited about it! Each student has different needs and knowledge also, so, it is always fascinating to teach.
