About Murray:

I have spent much of the past 20 years as a professional newspaper editor, identifying and repairing errors in grammar, spelling and sentence structure, among other things. I was in the gifted program for students with IQs above 135 in the Bakersfield City School District. Later, I was the first undergraduate to tutor logic and math students at California State College, Bakersfield. While I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism, English was my collateral field at California State University, Northridge, and I studied literature, writing and grammar at the upper-division level. My elective subjects included psychology, astronomy, meteorology, economics and political science. After graduation, I scored in the 89th percentile on the National Teachers Exam for English Language and Literature, allowing me to qualify for a single-subject credential to teach English at the secondary level. I was admitted to graduate school with a score of 1390 on the Graduate Record Exam. I passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test and worked extensively as a substitute teacher in high schools with diverse student bodies. I also have volunteered in my two daughters' elementary school classrooms. I played several years with and against former college and professional baseball players in the Mens Senior Baseball League of Southern California and also managed my own team in the league.
