My name is Mike, and I am available to lend any assistance I can for students who need help in English.
English studies tend to focus on two areas -- grammar and literature. I feel like I could help in both areas. Grammar-wise, I can use my experience as a writer and copy editor to help you not only clean up the things you write, but to understand what makes an ok paper or short story a good one.
In the way of literature, I can draw upon my experience as an English major at Georgetown University to help you recognize themes and subtexts in writing and also show you why the book is always better than the movie!
As of right now, my tutoring experience has been limited to helping friends, but as they have all been very thankful for my help (at least they say they are), I'm hoping I can translate that into helping you as well. I'll be very laid-back, patient and will do what I can to help you see the things I see, and why I see them. Thanks for your consideration. |

Most of my job experience has revolved around sports, with baseball the primary one.
After playing competitively for 11 years, I spent seven seasons working in minor league baseball front offices, two seasons as a baseball beat writer for a newspaper, three seasons as an usher at a minor league ballpark and two more watching games for a living while doing live stat entry.
I know the game from every angle.
