 About Charles:
I have a Mathematics degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from DePaul University (with distinction). I have classroom teaching experience with Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. I have several years of experience tutoring K–12 in math. I am currently an editor with a major textbook publisher, so I am familiar with several math programs. My tutoring style is to find out how a student approaches a given problem to assess where he or she needs help. I tend to ask “why” a lot to check for an understanding of the steps involved in solving a particular problem. When I ask why, I don’t want students to think they’ve done something incorrectly; I want them to understand what they are doing.
