Hello. My name is Margarita and I am a freshman at Cal State Los Angeles. I am majoring in Biology, but I enjoy all subjects. I was previously a tutor for 2 years while attending High School. I tutored students from elementary and middle school in subjects like math, science, and English. I am a very friendly, but serious person. I do my best to help students with a concept until they completely understand. I use strategies like having them teach us after they feel like they can grasp the concept. I use this method because I feel it gives the students more confidence. I also always go back to review all we have focused on to make sure they understand the lesson. Of course, when I suspect confusion I always ask if they need more explanation. I treat all students equally no matter the age. I know that some may have a harder time learning certain materials, but that should not get in their way of gaining knowledge. I believe in order for a student to learn something they must have some interest in the topic. There is always a fun approach to learning and I think I can not only help a student learn, but I can help them have fun at the same time.

  In the past I have tutored two 6th graders in subjects like general Math, Science, and English. I try to mentor students toward gaining a good understanding of all subjects they may have difficulty with. Three things are needed to succeed in learning. Patience is one skill we must obtain before learning a challenging concept. Determination is another very important tool we need to use in order to reach success. The last thing we need to accomplish our goals is hard work. As long as we do our best we can accomplish anything.

  I have more than 10 years of computer experience. I have already passed the Microsoft and Excel tests and am looking forward to being given the opportunity to assist people with general needs of computers. Over the years handling computers has become common knowledge. I believe computers are less complicated than people assume. It just takes time to get to know ones system and that I am willing to help with for each student.

She works to create a good rapport with her student, and tries to get to know him as a person. She is patient but also firm when necessary.
