About Randi:

Hi! My name is Randi Clark, technically in the working world I go by Dr. Clark, however you may call me Randi as I want us to have not only a productive and successful learning relationship, but a friendly one as well in which you know that you can ask me anything at any time that will help you succeed with your work in Biology. That being said, my background began in scientific research at the University of Connecticut where I earned my doctorate in Molecular Endocrinology, I then continued on with my Post- Doctoral work at the Yale School of Medicine along the same line of research but with some more Biochemistry mixed in. We then moved out of the area however, and I began teaching college which I did for 12 years or so while raising my four children ( we now have a fifth - the sweetest baby boy that we adopted from Guatemala)- and I developed a true love of teaching. Most of all I met with so many of my students outside of class as Biology can be quite confusing at times (as well as interesting!). These experiences were the most rewarding as I witnessed each student work to grasp a specific concept and the pride when they understood it, and then did well on a quiz or test. At present I have earned my high school certification, however while I am at home with our baby I thought tutoring would be a great way to stay in my field, especially in view of how much I enjoy it the considerable amount of effort I put into what each student requires. So often schoolwork can be a draining and exhausting effort and most of all frustrating if you do not understand the concepts required. I can guarantee that if you hire me as your tutor, you will not only learn and become truly proficient in what you need to know, but we'll have fun doing it together as well!! Studying, and learning for that matter has to be done in such a way that reaches the students. In other words my teaching style has always been to ask many questions during my classes to always keep the students involved. We play jeopardy games and have tournaments, all in the name of learning. Before exams I always distribute a review sheet which we go over together during the class prior to the exam. Hence you will see what kinds of things we do to keep you on your feet, and as it will be just us, there is no reason that we cannot come up with our own individualized ideas.
