elementary (k-6th) I hold a state certificate from Texas to teach these subjects. I completed the required coursework for Elementary Education at the U of Colorado, and took the tests needed to qualify for a Texas certificate when I moved to Texas. I also have taught third grade, fourth grade and kindergarten. I have tutored several elementary school children in math and reading. ESL/ESOL I am certified by the state of Texas to teach ESL, having passed the state examination for elementary school teachers. I received specialized training for ESL in 1999-2000. I also received training for ESL using the Laubach method for beginners. I have threel years experience teaching ESL weekly to families and their children. phonics I received training in phonics when I was a student. I utilized this training to teach twenty of my twenty-two students to read when I taught kindergarten. I have also worked as a reading tutor at my local school district, working with small groups of foreign language speakers.
