Bible studies As a graduate of Calvin College, I have been required to take classes covering both the Old and New Testaments. These tests were very challenging, and I consistently received high marks on all of my exams. I also have taught Scripture as part of religion courses in the Catholic schools where I have been employed. elementary (k-6th) I am certified to teach all subjects in Grades K-5 in both Michigan and New Jersey. I have taught students of every age, both as a faculty and substitute teacher. I have also designed a wide range of curriculum for homeschooling students at these levels, and I hold a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education. phonics As an elementary education teacher, I understand the importance of phonics in the process of gaining work-recognition skills. I have worked with both struggling and above-average students to strengthen phonetic awareness through a variety of hands-on and written methods. I also strive to connect phonics skills with actual literature so that adequate connections are made and retention is accomplished. proofreading As an undergraduate Communications major, with a specialization in Rhetoric, I have extensively studied what makes good writing. In addition to writing papers for my own courses, I have helped friends proofread and improve their own assignments. Also, as a teacher who has worked with elementary, middle, and high school students in the field of writing; I am able to guide students effectively through the writing process. religion As a graduate of Calvin College, I have studied New and Old Testament Scripture as well as theology. I have been very successful in these subjects. As an experienced Catholic religious education professional, I have also worked very hard to develop my own knowledge of theology and teaching abilities in this area. I have taken several enrichment courses in catechesis. I am passionate about sharing my Christian, particularly Catholic, faith with my students.
