 About Darlene:
I love to tutor students in the areas of English language and literature. During my undergraduate years at UTA, I worked as a peer tutor in English Composition for Soar Student Support Services and was certified as a Level One Tutor. While attending law school, I served as a frelance GRE and TOEFL tutor in the area of English. During the 2007-2008 school year, I am working towards completion of my alternative certification in 8-12 English Language Arts and Reading. Having passed the December 2007 content exam, I am "highly qualified" under No Child Left Behind. Along with tutoring for Wyzant, I am substitute teaching in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. As for degrees, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from University of Texas at Arlington, cum laude, and a Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School of Union University in Albany, New York, where I had been a member of the Albany Law Review. I hope that you will contact me soon so that we can get to work on English language, literature, reading, and writing. See you soon! Darlene

GRE
Hi: I am seeking certification to tutor the GRE General Test, in the areas of verbal reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills. As for my qualifications to tutor the GRE General Test, I have a Bachelor’s degree in English, cum laude, and a Juris Doctor degree in law, with a concentration in International Law. Aside from my degrees, both of which feed equally well into the skills of verbal reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills, I tutored the GRE General Test and the TOEFL Test in upstate New York during my 3 years of study at Albany Law School of Union University. Additionally, I was a SOAR Student Support Services peer tutor at the University of Texas at Arlington in the area of English composition. My GRE and TOEFL tutees were admitted to their preferred graduate schools, after successfully taking the GRE General Test and TOEFL Test. While in law school, I sat for the GRE General Test, after which I was admitted into SUNY University at Albany and the University of North Texas for non-degreed graduate study. My GRE General Test score was quite high in the area of verbal reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills. To be exact, I believe that I was in the top 5-10% percentile of those taking the GRE General Test, in those areas. In the area of quantitative reasoning (math), my score was average. Thus, I do not seek to tutor in the area of quantitative reasoning and have left that portion of the GRE General Test out of my request. Based on my skills and training, I am seeking only to tutor GRE General Test students in areas related to verbal reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing. I await your response. Thank you! Darlene McPeek
TOEFL
Hi: I am interested in tutoring the TOEFL Test. As for my qualifications to tutor the TOEFL, I have a Bachelor’s degree in English, cum laude, from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to my underlying degree in English, I successfully tutored the TOEFL Test in upstate New York while I was studying law at Albany Law School. During my undergraduate years, I was employed as a peer tutor in the area of English Composition by SOAR Student Support Services at the University of Texas at Arlington. Further, I have experience teaching English literature, reading and writing with Keller ISD. Upon completion of the tutoring, my TOEFL tutees were admitted to their preferred schools, as they had successfully taken and passed the TOEFL Test. I believe that I am able to teach English usage and writing very well, based on the comments of my students. I can guarantee that your English language usage and writing will dramatically improve, with my tutelage, as I will take the time necessary to assist you in the English language usage and writing process. As for students I have worked with, I am most experienced in communicating with and tutoring the TOEFL Test to those students who are from all parts of Asia, the Middle East, Far East, and Near East. I have also traveled to different parts of Europe and have experience with European languages and culture. I await your response. Thank you! Darlene McPeek
