I LOVE teaching!! Ever since I was seven years old, I knew I wanted to be and I cannot imagine doing anything else with my life even if that means I will never be rich--at least I will be happy! What attracted me to teaching in the first place was my natural desire to help people and there's nothing I enjoy more than helping people understand something difficult or something they didn't think they could ever understand.
Subjects I feel confident in tutoring are history (American, world, and European), Spanish, Italian, and anything having to do with English, language arts, and writing. Concerning Italian: I have studied it for the past 2.5 years and recently studied in Florence for 3 months where I gained much greater fluency.
As far as experience goes, for the past 3 years I have tutored college freshmen in the humanities (English, history, and philosophy) at UC Irvine through their resource center. Prior to that I tutored at both my high school and middle school in their homework centers for a couple of years. Most recently, however, I have been tutoring high school students in Santa Ana in English through an outreach program.
My educational background includes graduating in June from UC Irvine with a BA in English and a BA in Drama with a 3.8 GPA. While at UC Irvine, since I love education and am fascinated with how people learn, I completed an honors thesis on how to improve the study of dramatic literature in the high school English classroom. It involved researching teaching methods through classroom observation, discussion with teachers in the field, and comparing them to the standards states held--so even though I may not have my credential in hand yet I am very familiar with various teaching strategies and the methodology behind it all. And I have the passion to match it!
