About Mary:

I live in the Vancouver, Washington metropolitan area and my expertise is English and mathematics. I have an Associates of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Sandhills Community College located in Pinehurst, North Carolina. I have also attended University of Detroit and Henry Ford Community College with a major in Mass Communications. My English, geography and history background are my strongest subjects with mathematics a close second. I know trigonometry and precalculus, but it has been awhile since I studied it. I am more comfortable with the algebra and the other subjects since I have homeschooled my children. My son graduated with honors after being homeschooled most of high school years. My daughter is almost through her schooling and she is doing fine. I have tutored other students while I was attending Sandhills Community College and I brought several students from a failing grade to top grades. My teaching style varies with the student because people are not a one size fits all.

I have tutored elementary school children in most subjects, excluding physical education, music and the arts. I helped out after school with students who were having trouble with English, math, etc. I am proud to say I was successful in most of the cases I tutored. I treat each child as an individualistic and unique and I approach tutoring in the same way. On many occasions I have had to supplement my children's education in this grades since I was able to give them individual attention.
