About
Kendra: |
I'm an aspiring author currently studying English and Creative Writing at Harvard University. I'm frequently described as having a natural talent for words, and enjoy applying this in as many ways as possible.
I've been writing since the day I learned how. Growing up, I was exposed to many different schools and styles of teaching, and have become familiar with different methods of teaching and how to specialize to a student's interests. I have ADHD (inattentive type, under control), and my parents will tell you I was a gifted and talented child, and I am comfortable working with students with these and similar difficulties with traditional school methodology.
My current academic focus is very humanities-oriented and centers around writing, but I started out with my main goal in science and biology, and also studied computers for a year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I love language in all forms, and have studied Spanish, Latin (my true love), C++, German, and (currently) Irish Gaelic, as well as some Linguistics.
I'm also very passionate about my hobbies. Currently outside of my classes I study historical sword fighting, and I am also a Level 1 Certified Archery instructor. Pursuing these interests led me to study Latin so that I could personally translate medieval combat instructional texts, a project of which i am very proud.
I don't have any prior tutoring experience, but am not completely new to being an education provider. In the past, I have given lectures for the Worcester County Bee Association's Bee School, and my archery coaching and instruction experience has taught me a lot about teaching and learning styles. I'm also an active Adult Volunteer with 4-H and through that have gotten experience working with children one-on-one to improve their work, especially in creative writing and public speaking.
I look forward to working with you! |
