About
Analicia: |
I am a high school senior who is getting ready to attend California Baptist University in the fall of 2008. I will be working on a degree in Music education after which I plan to start a career as a high school band director. I see my self as an excellent student with exceptional musical skills, who is creative and inventive with children while they grow and learn.
In school I have maintained a 3.0 or higher and have performed very well in all areas. I believe my strongest area is in that of music. I have an excellent ability to express my self through the English Language and I strive to learn more through reading and understanding great pieces of literature. I also scored a 22 on my ACTs and have not fallen below a 90% in any of my classes this year.
As a musician, I find myself to be very talented, but I believe that music as with any language of the soul, always has more to discover. I have played trumpet for ten years and have participated in a district honor band and have been asked to join a Inland Empire honor band this semester. Furthermore, I have received a scholarship from California Baptist University to participate in their women's chorale and concert band in the fall of 2008.
Having grown up as the daughter of two elementary school teachers, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of different kids all at different levels of learning capabilities. Through this experience, I have discovered a variety of innovative teaching strategies. I begin with asking them what they know and then build on what they feel confident in by enhancing who they are. I show them various ways to try new methods answer all questions and work with them to find solutions. I don't like to jump straight into what they don't know, because I believe it weakens their desire to know and understand better. Rather, if they need help with addition, I would ask them what they understood about organizing items into larger groups. Then I would explain how that process of organization is called addition. |

Music is the lanugage of the soul. It through music that we learn a method of expressing our inner most emotions to the world at large. I have chosen to portray my personal story through the tongue of trumpet. I have played trumpet for 10 years. In the years I have greatly increased my abilities and have received various honors for my performance. I participated in a district honor band after having only played for 3 yrs. I have also been invited into various county and state honor band and will participate in the Inland Empire honor this spring. Furthermore, I have received a music scholarship from California Baptist University for plying trumpet.
In the past years I have been the first chair and section leader of my school band. I have devolved an array of teaching strategies and ideas of how to further ones ability to perform. I allow them to actively participate in their learning asking hem to listen to what they hear when they play and what they hear when I play. It is crucial that they devolve the ear to make themselves better. I believe I am very capable of teaching the technique of playing trumpet, but it is up to the individual to bring out the music inside them.
At this stage in my career I believe I am most suited for elementary/beginning level students. I can teach the art of forming a strong embouchure and tone production. I know how to teach fingering and listening skills that will enhance intonation and style. I am very good at describing what anatomy is involved with making the appropriate sound for trumpet.
