I have recently relocated to Southern Maryland with my husband and darling 4 year old son. He definitely keeps us on our toes!
Currently, I'm working with University of Phoenix teaching Communication courses and English classes. Furthermore, I teach with KC Distance learning Sociology, Civics and Geography to High School students.
In my educational and professional experiences I have facilitated the development of a variety of learning styles. Specifically, for eight years I was employed as a teacher in New York City and New York State(1993-2000). There I taught a variety of courses. This allowed me to diversify my abilities as an educator, while furthering my knowledge of teaching children at various developmental stages. New teaching methodologies and multicultural themes were frequently utilized in order to create a positive, successful learning environment for my students.
After moving to South Florida in August of 2000, I successfully completed my professional Florida teaching certification in Social Sciences/ESL ( English as a Second Language) grades six through twelve. In Broward County, I worked as a teacher at Pompano Beach Middle School. There I facilitated 6th - 8th grade Desktop Publishing, participated in the Florida Education and Technology Conference. Furthermore, I helped design and integrate a variety of instructional strategies in order to foster more multimedia projects in the classroom. In June 2001, I decided to accept a new position as Academic Curriculum Specialist for the Broward Teen Coalition of Florida along with the Boys and Girls Club. There I instructed 5th thru 10th grade general academic studies. I researched and located new academic resources and materials for all the teen sites in Broward County to increase the overall student performance and achievement. As well as, my team and I trained and advised education coordinators and academic tutors at teen sites on developing diverse lesson plans and units to further assist our students in reaching and achieving their academic goals.
At Plantation Middle School I was an instructor for the Advanced Communications Skills Magnet Theme program for Gifted/Advanced Students as well as I taught Advanced World History Classes. There, I also designed and integrated diverse content-driven curriculum to increase student achievement on standardized state exams. Furthermore, as Team leader and ESOL (English as a Second Language) Coordinator the team and I developed different learning communities to provide further academic and educational assistance to our most challenged students and their families.
In August, 2005 I decided it was time to take a part-time position as an ESL(English as a Second Language) instructor at Broward Community College, Davie, Florida. There my main objective was to ignite the passion for learning in my students. To accomplish my goal, I infused my classroom with energy, passion and diverse modules along with real-world integrations. The students and I had a fantastic time and it was truly a great and insightful experience.
Working, being a Mom and balancing the nuances of a social life involves many challenges covering time management and keeping focused. Some of this may sound familiar to you, however, it can be done, and I am here to assist you in achieving
the goals you have set for yourself.
Education is very important to me and I believe you are of the same mindset. It is my job to help you develop the foundational skills that you will build upon throughout your educational and
professional career. Education is the greatest gift you can give yourself and I am honored that I get to share my knowledge with you and be a part of your educational journey.
Good luck and please feel free to contact me via email or a phone call. Thanks and smiles. |
