I have an English and a business degree, but English, History and public speaking have always been tops on my lists. I love to make literature and history more tangible and real, and point out how important and confident boosting something as simple as a strong vocabulary can be. Interpreting literature and historical events doesn't have to be boring. I have been asked by several parents and teachers to pursue a teaching certification, but that may or may not happen. I just enjoy helping everyone excel at the subjects I have always loved. I have tutored family and a few of my own children’s friends in grammar and writing, as well as assisted many former classmates in research and paper/report writing. I was asked to work at my university's writing center, as I have a strong grammar background and can easily help with MLA formatting. I was a member of my schools speech & debate team and won several awards in different fields. One true statement that we used to promote joining the team was that there is no job in the world that does not involve some form of public speaking at one time or another. I truly believe that anyone who gains a better feel for public speaking, vocabulary and writing will be able to go very far in life. These are things that are essential to becoming a well-rounded individual. I admit that I am strict, but fun; that I asses a persons abilities and set high-but reachable- goals and expectations for them, and then do everything in my power to help them achieve and go beyond those. |
