Although I have been out of high school for many years, I look back and realize I lucked into the grades I had. I was an honor student and completed a college prep curriculum which made me proud even though I wasn't sure I deserved it. Now, having been a college student for the past 6 yrs, I realize the importance of a commitment to learning. Tutors can be intimidating and sometimes make you feel less intelligent than you may already feel but my goal is to show you we are equal. My time will be spent teaching you whatever it is you need to know but I will also be learning from you as you reteach the material to me. I have found over the years that we truly no our material when we can teach it to someone else. Making you feel you are an equal partner I feel is the best I can offer you. With confidence, encouragement, and goals everyone can succeed. I can list my colleges and my grades but you may find they may be similar to those who are already in the classroom teaching you unsuccessfully. I offer a one on one environment at your pace and at your level of understanding while providing you the tools to learn not just me teaching you. I choose to teach by examples, discussion and repetition. You can memorize on your own but if you don't understand what you are memorizing it serves no purpose. As a parent, I tutor everyday and as a student I found myself in many one on one conversations with my peers explaining the course material. I have never been paid to tutor but I have been doing it all my life with at least one classmate in every class I have taken. I imagine I have not sold my services well but I have been honest. I've found in my past that trust takes you through life and a grade only gets you a piece of paper.
