Hi!
My name is Kelsey and I am currently a senior at The Evergreen State College. My focus there is on education, sociology, and writing. I plan on going into their Master's in Teaching program to become an elementary teacher. While I have my main focuses at Evergreen, I've also been taking classes in all main subject areas to have a more well-rounded education.
Since I was 17 I have spent time volunteering in elementary schools. I have been a classroom assistant/tutor for grades K-6. Most recently, I have run reading groups and helped individual kids with reading and writing at an elementary school, helped with an after school art program, and tutored individual kids with all subjects at various elementary schools.
While my experience lies mainly with elementary ages, I am also able to tutor any age for reading/writing/literature/etc as well as study skills.
My methods vary according to the student and subject, especially since I try to find ways to make it fun and interesting to each individual. I believe in a lot of student/tutor interaction, getting to know one another (so I can understand how they learn best), and finding ways to make the subject or problems connect to the real world. Learning should be fun and relevant - something I strive to help make possible.
If this sounds like a fit, please feel free to get in touch!
