The Most Imporant Lesson is to Strive For Your Dreams
My name is Christopher Currie. My career goal is to be an on-air radio personality and journalist. The most important lesson I have learned is to strive for my dreams.
I love to write, since discovering that I had an affinity for it in writing schoolwork essays. In the print world I have contributed articles to student newspapers, press releases and some newsletter editing. I apply myself to my work with a sense of standards and integrity. I can balance a career in both the radio and television fields, which are complementary. It’s important to be able to have diverse skills in today’s employment markets.
Electronic journalism have expanded opportunities for jobs. I've been applying myself through practical experience, writing for student publications and networking with professionals in broadcasting. My goal is to become the peer of these people that I am learning from now and eventually mentor the next generation of aspiring journalists.
I have taken college courses in communications and journalism, and I finished a vocational program in radio/TV production. I have been learning a broad base of skills relating to the broadcasting fields. I will get as much hands-on experience as I can, working in professional broadcasting environments. I am confident that I can secure a position with media company and continue working on my long term goal.
The increases in corporate ownership of media outlets combined with computer technology and the Internet have forced changes in the way that people seek out news and entertainment. Media is not immune from globalization trends and it is more important than ever for people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to participate in media. I feel the answer to complaints about alleged media shortcomings and bias is to become more engaged with it and to become an internal influence.
