I can do anything!
My large and very supportive family has always made me feel like anything I wanted was within my reach. The lessons I learned from playing baseball in 5th grade made me believe it. I was the only girl on a team of all boys. There were only a few girls in the whole league and I thought the boys were better. Our team had a really good year. I played well in the field but was definitely intimidated each time I got up to bat. The coaches never stopped encouraging me. One of my coaches threatened to make me sing if I took a called third strike and I began to hit better. Our team got to the championship game but we were trailing half way through the game. I got into the batter’s box with the bases loaded. I swung and hit the ball into centerfield for my first double of the season. That hit gave our team the lead and we eventually won the game. I learned then never to give up on myself. I developed the confidence to compete with whoever I wanted to compete with. I have faith in myself and I know if I work hard at something, I can succeed.
