Effective SAT study skills can definitely improve a student's grades at school. One positive study skill is the Cornell method. The student uses a column to write important vocabulary words, definitions, key terms, etc. This method can also be adapted to study SAT vocabulary words. The definition following the vocabulary word is folded behind or under the targeted word. This method enables a student to learn 20 or more words at a time which is much quicker than the flashcard system. SAT vocabulary is very important for a student to improve his or her SAT Critical Reading and English subtests. Many of the SAT vocabulary words are also used in the California Standards Recommended Literature.
