The basic unit in Excel is the cell. There are only three things you can put into a cell. They are text, data, or formulas. Excel decides what you are entering based on the characters you enter. If you enter =, +, -, or @, Excel knows you are entering a formula. If you enter numbers, Excel knows you are entering data. If you enter all text or mixed text and numbers, Excel knows you are entering text. A special exception is the forward slash character (/). It acts like the ALT key and does not enter anything into the cell. Keep this in mind and you are on your way to "getting" Excel. I am open to discuss anything you would like so long as it is not illegal, immoral, or fattening. Please give me your suggestions.
