I think that when a student understands the art of photography, and what it takes to make art with photography, it is the most rewarding thing ever. I have a student who is a skilled photographer, but is lacking certain skills. It is my job to "shore up" and make him the great photographer that he is. I think that his eye for composition and lighting are spot on, but he does not yet know how to make a picture out of it. This is like Michaelangelo who has not yet discovered he can sculpt as well as draw. The only thing I can do is to bring his technical skills up to the stand that he is shooting. I feel I have a great responsibility to this student. if I fail him, his art may go with him. I cannot allow that to happen.
