Writing for yourself
Most students groan when asked to write a paper, no matter how long or short it may have to be. If you think of writing as a way to express yourself, rather than a chore, it immediately becomes much more fun. While you are on summer vacation, find things you really enjoy to write about; your vacation, your day at the beach, your train ride, your visit to grandmother's house, a letter you received from a friend, or an airplane flight you took. At first, just write and get your ideas on paper--no organizing yet--just write for ten minutes or longer. Then, pick the ideas that give you the most satisfaction; did you find a beautiful shell on the beach; did you see a friend you haven't talked to for awhile at your gram's? There are so many ways to make writing fun. Pick a word: your favorite word, or a word you like the sound of. Write a story about the word. It doesn't even have to be about what the word really means (but make sure you do know what it means before you begin changing it for your story). There are lots of ways to make writing fun. If you need ideas just reply here and I will give you some creative writing ideas I have used with great results.
