What are your tips for kinesthetic vs. visual vs. tactile vs. auditory learners? Do you specialize in teaching any learning style?

What are your tips for kinesthetic vs. visual vs. tactile vs. auditory learners? Do you specialize in teaching any learning style?

This is a question that is asked often of teachers, and all educators. Everyone has a learning style that is suited to them specifically, and that can sometimes make it difficult to teach others in other learning ways when you have your own special way of learning.

The best way that I have learned to meet the needs of all students involved is to first find out what their individual learning ways are and then to create a lesson that incorporates all of these styles together. By working together and trying new learning styles for all students, everyone involved will benefit. By having students use all of these areas, not just one, or not just the one that they are the best at, will help to keep them engaged in activities as well as to strengthen them in these other areas.

What a wonderful post, Jennifer. I was recently talking with my cousin who teaches kindergarten. She spoke on the importance of allowing the children to use the sense of touch to encourage leaning skills. I do not believe she emphasizes this to the exclusion of the other three; it is just that she finds it a very useful tool for encouraging learning in very young learners. Thanks again for sharing this.
