5x+10-2x=9x+25

3x+10=9x+25
-3x -3x
______________
10=6x+25
-25 -25
______________
-15=6x
___ ___
6 6

x=-15/6=-5/2

First Step: Combine like terms on each side of the equation.

Example: 5x-2x on the left side of the equation, but on the right side of the equation, leave 9x alone because there is only +25 and you can never add or subtract variables and real numbers because they are not alike.

Second Step: Combine like terms by moving variables to another side of an equation, moving real numbers to another side of the equation. When you move terms to another side of an equation, always change the symbol. The + sign is the inverse of the - sign.

Example: You can move any variable to another side of the equation. The reason I subtracted 3x on both sides of the equation is because I wanted the variable to be positive, so I can make my life easier to solve for x. Also, 3x was positive, so I had to change that symbol to a negative, so I can move the term to another side of the equation.

Example: For real numbers, I had to change the symbol from +25 to -25, so I can move the term to another side of the equation. I moved -25 to another side of the equation because I need to leave 6x alone because you need to solve for x.

-15=6x

When you have one term on each side of the equation such as one real number on one side of the equation and one variable on the other side of the equation, you must divide both sides by 6 because 6x is a variable and variables are known as multiplication terms because variables 6*x =6x and the opposite of multiplication is division. You have to divide both sides by 6, so x can be exactly 100% alone.

-15/6 will not help me get an answer of a whole number, but sometimes, your answer can be a fraction and sometimes a whole number.

After you divide six on both sides and you end up with a fraction like -15/6, then you must simplify the fraction to the simplest form.

When you simply fractions, never use numbers 0 and 1 to simplify the fraction. -15/0 and 6/0 will only make you lead to an answer of undefined because when a denominator is zero, your answer will always be undefined. When you simplify a fraction by 1, then your answer like -15/6=-15/6 will still be the same. 2 is always the minimum number to simplify a fraction. 6 can be simplified by 2, but not -15 because -15 is an odd number while 2 is an even number. Lets try 3. Yes! -15 and 6 can be simplified by 3. -15/3 will give you the numerator of -5 while 6/3 will give you a denominator of 2.

The numerator is a top of the fraction while the denominator is a bottom of the fraction. For fractions like -5/2, -5 is the numerator while 2 is the denominator.

Now x=-5/2

That is your answer!
