We don’t owe the people in our lives an emotion, we owe them an action. Having internal experiences without outward actions does nothing to build a relationship or getting us closer to our goals. Saying “I love you” or “I’m your friend” or “I’m working as hard as I can” are all empty phrases without the ACTIONS to prove it.
Now, it doesn’t mean the feelings aren’t real. It means we have to transfer the emotional energy into positive actions that do not impede the well being of others. You can believe something strongly and experience a genuine flood of emotion just thinking about that person, that place or that thing. But by using your internal experience, that emotional flood, as energy to fuel your actions is how you create the greatest impact on people and ultimately on the world.
