4c^{2} - 8c = 0

First, look to see if there is a common factor among both terms on the left hand side of the equation. In this case there is a greatest common factor, that being '4c':

(4c)(c - 2) = 0

By the zero product property, which states that if the product of two factors equals 0 then at least one factor must equal 0, we can set each factor above equal to 0:

4c = 0

c - 2 = 0

Solve for c in both cases:

4c = 0 ==> 4c/4 = 0/4 ==> **c = 0**

c - 2 = 0 ==> c - 2 + 2 = 0 + 2 ==> **c = 2**
