If you are trying to solve for x, you are just looking for the values for x that make that equation true.

(x+6)(x+2)=0 Meaning, either (x+6)=0 or (x+2)=0 or both.

x+6=0        x+2=0

x=-6          x=-2

So your values of x are -6 and -2
