how many cubic ft is 1 cubic meter?

Hi!

I am doing my homework for AMATH 185.  The assignment is:

Given:  52'7" + 70" length; 33'6" + 48" width; 9 ft. high measurement of a room

a.  Since 1 meter = 3.28 ft, how many sq ft is 1 sq mtr? Show some diagram to explain your reasoning.

b.  Also, how many cubic ft is 1 cubic mtr?  Clearly explain how you get your answer.

Thank you for your help!

Since 1 m = 3.28 ft, then 1 m2 = (1 m )(1 m) = (3.28 ft)(3.28 ft) = 10.66 ft2

Similarly, 1 m3 = (1 m )(1 m)(1 m) = (3.28 ft)(3.28 ft)(3.28 ft) = 34.9648 ft3
