-2x^{-2}(1) Anything to the 0 power equals 1

-2x^{-2} Identity property of multiplication

-2/x^{2} The negative power means to move the x^{2} to the denominator

A negative exponent means that you take the reciprocal of what is being raised to the power. Since x is the only thing being raised to a negative power, it's the only thing that moves:

-2x^{-2}y^{0} = (-2y^{0})/x^{2}

Now, we also need to do something with y^{0}. I will leave that and simplification to the student.
