For reading class, Salvador is keeping track of the types of books he has read so far this year.

For reading class, Salvador is keeping track of the types of books he has read so far this year. Find the ratio of mystery books to the total number of books Salvador has read. Then explain its meaning.

There are 10 mystery books and 24 books total including the mysteries.

When they say explain they mean, 2 mysteries for every 3 books. Something like that.

If I can add a bit - when they ask you to find the ratio of mystery books to the total number of books Salvador has read, they simple want you to state this:

Number of mystery books/total number of books read = 10/24

Then, to reduce the ratio of 10/24 to the simplest ratio, we look at what number we can divide into both the numerator and denominator, which is 2, so that 10/24 can be reduced to 5/12 - meaning that for every 12 books read, 5 of them are mystery books.  Hope this helps!
